About Jesse Fairchild, LCPC

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) providing individual, couples, and family therapy. My experience spans the spectrum from treatment of Dual Diagnosis/Substance Abuse in a medication-assisted facility to working in a large private group practice.  In addition, I spent time working with foster children in private practice in Maryland and with autistic children in a school environment in Costa Rica. I have focused on individual, couples, and family therapy while also leading several different types of groups.  This wide array of practical work experience has allowed me to develop skills that are valuable across the lifespan and with many different diagnoses and issues.  My prime focus in counseling is to help people come back to themselves.

As a graduate of Loyola University Maryland I am currently enjoying my work as a private practitioner serving a broad spectrum of clients in Cecil County, Maryland. Among my areas of expertise are grief issues (specifically related to loss by suicide and infertility), couples counseling, anxiety issues, and parenting.

I am an integrative, client-focused therapist.  My theoretical orientation is rooted in Psychodynamic theory, but in practice I use a wide variety of therapies to best serve my clients. I am well-informed by many sources and I use any and all information at my disposal to help clients on their journey of discovery.  My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.  I incorporate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach specifically tailored to each client's needs.   I use homework and bibliotherapy whenever possible to integrate the themes discovered in session.

With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual, couple, or family to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.  I enjoy working with clients to create achievable yet significant goals in their lives and then continuing to support them moving forward on their individual path of discovery and growth.  In addition, I work to bring together families in an effort to build understanding, compassion, and communication.  I am especially interested in working with families who are at moments of transition - adolescents moving into adulthood, families dealing with restructuring after separation or divorce, families dealing with the loss of a primary family member - as I feel that while these are the moments of greatest darkness and confusion, they are also the moments of greatest growth and possibility.

I believe every client's story is worth listening to, and I enjoy getting to know my clients as they realize their own strengths and abilities in an effort to rise to the challenge of their lives. It is an honor to be present as people find their way back to themselves.
